About the Club

The Ascender Project is a club designed to increase the visibility and credibility of the space tourism industry. A revolution in spaceflight can happen soon, and the aim of the club is to ensure that it does. By joining The Ascender Project, you will be adding your voice to the demand for public access to space, showing the business community that space tourism is not only plausible but also popular.

Member contributions will be used to increase visibility and prove the popularity of space tourism; any excess funds will be directed towards accelerating the development of the Ascender spaceplane, the flagship project of Bristol Spaceplanes Limited (BSP).

As a member of the Ascender Project you stand to gain from numerous club benefits including discounts, special offers, and a chance to win a flight into space. Even if you are not a member you can join the club mailing list and keep up to date with the latest news and information, but only club members will be able to take advantage of member benefits.

Member Benefits

Members of The Ascender Project gain the following:

  • Entry into a free draw for a flight to space in Ascender (read about the 2001 winner). Your flight will be subject to your medical fitness, although you may transfer it to another person of your choice. The draw takes place in October. Assuming sufficient funding, the development phase of Ascender is about four years, seven including a certificate of air worthiness. Keep in mind that insufficient funding is the only thing holding back the completion of Ascender.

  • A ten percent discount on WildWings high altitude and microgravity flights. Just show your membership details to WildWings, and the discount is yours. See the offers page for details.

  • Regular briefings. Nominally quarterly, these will be posted to members by post or email. A less detailed summary is sent out by email on the project mailing list, and posted on the website at http://www.bristolspaceplanes.com/club/. The full briefing is available to members only.

  • An early opportunity to invest in Ascender. Members will be advised of the next major investment opportunity before the general public.

  • A chance to become involved with the development of Ascender, including promotional activities and meetings. Job vacancies will be posted on the website before being advertised in the press.

  • Access to special offers, lectures, visits, and other club events. Members will have the opportunity to give suggestions and help formulate the direction of the club, so don't be shy with your ideas and requests.

  • Perhaps most important of all, members will have the satisfaction of helping to pioneer a revolution in spaceflight.

Club Briefings

Ascender Project Briefings are posted to all club members. Public editions are archived on the club website here:
